Safe, natural and sustainable materials
Houtland
Play equipment uses specially selected round wood from smaller trees for strength
and durability.
These timbers are stronger and less costly than those sawn from larger trees
and are produced through the selective thinning of well managed forests.
Wood is a natural product which is subject to the influence of the moisture
content of the air and ground.
In warm sunny weather the timber will shrink and in wet weather will expand.
These stresses are normal and will create some cracking and splitting in the
timbers.
The width
of cracks can be up to 3% of the circumference of the component and they can
go nearly to the centre of the timber in depth. These are allowed for in calculating
the operational strength of each component.
So you rest assured that your child will be safe playing on this equipment.
